Privacy policy

Last updated 10 October 2026

Waylo shows you who else is waiting in the same place and lets you chat, play and make plans with them. This page explains what that takes in terms of your information, and nothing more.

Who we are

Waylo (“we”, “us”) makes the Waylo app and this website. You can reach us about privacy at kowais915@gmail.com.

The short version

  • Other people see your zone (for example “Gate B12”), never your exact location.
  • Chats, rooms, games and waves are deleted when your visit ends, unless you and the other person both choose to keep each other.
  • We never sell your personal information, and venues never get a way to contact you.

What we collect

Account details. Your phone number or email address, used to sign you in. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email address from them (Apple lets you hide your email). Plus the name, photo, interests and short bio you choose to add, and your confirmation that you’re 18 or older.

Location, while you use the app. Your phone’s location is used to suggest the place you’re at and to notice when you’ve left. We store the place and zone you check in to, not a trail of where you’ve been. You can use Waylo with location off by searching for your place instead.

Things you scan. When you scan a table code, ticket or boarding pass to verify a check-in, we read the venue, flight or train and zone from it. We don’t keep an image of the document.

What you do in a visit. Waves, messages, activity results and keeps, so the app can work. These are deleted at the end of the visit unless kept (see below).

Home parties. If you start or join a private home party, we store its name, invite code and the people in its crew, so you can start it again next time. Home parties are never shown to anyone outside the crew.

Trusted contact. If you add a trusted contact, we store the phone number or email you give us, and only use it when you choose to share where you’re meeting.

Purchases. If you buy Plus, the App Store or Google Play handles payment. We never see your card details; we receive whether your subscription is active and when it renews.

Safety reports. If you report someone, we keep the report and the relevant messages so our team can review it.

Device and usage data. Basic, pseudonymous information about crashes and how features are used, so we can fix problems.

How long we keep things

  • Visit content (chats, rooms, games, waves): deleted when the visit and its last call end, unless both people keep each other. With Plus, kept chats retain their history; without Plus, a kept connection keeps no message history.
  • Your account: until you delete it, in the app (Me → Delete account) or without the app. Deletion removes your profile, sign-in details and kept connections within 30 days, and from backups within 90 days.
  • Safety reports: up to 2 years, or longer if the law requires it.
  • Purchase records: as long as tax and accounting law requires.

Who we share with

  • People at the same place, according to the visibility you choose (everyone, women only, or same trip, course or section).
  • Your trusted contact, only when you choose to share where you’re meeting.
  • Service providers who host our servers, send sign-in codes by SMS and email, handle sign-in and report crashes, under contracts that limit what they can do with your data.
  • Authorities, only when the law requires it or someone’s safety is at risk.

Venue partners see aggregate numbers, such as how many people checked in on a given evening. They never see who you are.

Your choices

You can change who sees you, hide your photo, hide even your zone, turn off location or delete your account at any time. To get a copy of your data, correct it or ask any question about it, email kowais915@gmail.com.

Children

Waylo is for adults 18 and over, and we don’t knowingly collect information from anyone younger. If you believe a minor is using it, tell us at kowais915@gmail.com and we’ll close the account. See our child safety standards.

Security

Your data is encrypted in transit and stored with providers that encrypt it at rest. Access is limited to the people who need it to run and keep Waylo safe.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we’ll tell you in the app before it takes effect.
